First launch Aura and click the toolbar Configure icon ![]()
The preference dialog will open as follows:
Now you need to insert your email server information.
Aura only manages POP3 servers.

Fill all required fields for each of your mailboxes:
1. E-Mail Address with your address
2. E-Mail Account with your user ID (login) for that POP3 server
3. Password with the related password
4. POP3 Server with name or IP address of your POP3 server (to receive)
5. SMTP Server with name or IP address of your SMTP server (to send)
6. Timeout with the number of seconds after the program will stop wait for response from the server
Now click on Add button to add this mailbox to the list.
Repeat these operations for each of your mailboxes. Remember to save your changes and to click Update if you change some information from an existing entry.
Fill in Name to Use with your name. It will be used as Sender in outgoing messages.
You can now set up checking rules here,
but initially use Check all mailboxes together
and Check Manually to quickly start.

Now select Connection & Alarm tab and which kind of internet connection you have. If you use a dial up connection and you want Aura to auto-dial to check mail then select your default ISP provider from combo. You can also insert your dial up password (optional).
Select an option for Alarm. You can have a pop-up window to alert you about new messages and/or a sound.
With this basic setup you are ready to start using Aura and for now you can ignore other options or preferences.
Do not set delete rules initially because many mailing list messages will be recognized as spam messages, and you must manually insert those senders in your safe list. This will take a few days, and. as the messages arrive, use the right mouse button context menu to add senders to the safe list.
